The meeting was lead by the Chairman Don Jo McKernan, and began with introductions. Not much input from attendees, however a few items mentioned. A mineral withdrawl meeting to be held on October 14, 2014 at 6-8p.m at Barstow Field Office. The Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Land and Minerals Management proposes to withdraw, subject to valid existing rights, on behalf of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), 10,094.03 acres of public lands located in San Bernardino County, California. An update on Bickle Camp, regarding clean up of canisters of oil, Home Depot will be donating some containers with lids and Charlie Hattendorf will be leading the effort of clean up. Some handouts for viewing from a meeting Sam Merk attended on Coolwater Lugo Transmission Line Project. The New District San Andres has completed interviews for District Superintendant and awaiting announcement of who will be running this new district. The Munro Valley Solar Project was approved by Inyo County Planning and passed on to Board of Supervisors. Munro Valley Solar is proposing to construct and operate a 4.0 megawatt (MW) alternating current (AC) solar photovoltaic (PV) generating facility (“Solar Facility”) over two separate parcels located south of Olancha, California. BLM reports with Carl Symons began with the announcement of DRECP is available in hardcopy to be viewed in BLM office. Copies of the DAC report was distributed. Carl addressed the question of how the proposed Bill from the base would affect PILT (payment in lieu of taxes). Carl is unable to answer at this time must research more. Recreation season will begin in about a month. A fire at corrals caused by old a hay, China Lake Fire Dept. responded no serious damage.
The elections of officers of were completed with a unanimous decision to elect Randy Banis as new Chairman. Ed Waldheim is Vice Chairman. Sam Merk was elected as Member at Large. The November and December meeting will be held December 11 at regular time. Adjorned.
